Something I would not buy again: 22 Piece Brush Set from Coastal Scents. UPDATE!

Updated August 12- After some exchanges, Coastal Scents has indicated that they will be sending replacements for brushes #2 and #4. I will update with full details once I have them in hand.

I can understand why they would not love this feedback, but this situation is not my fault. I would have MUCH preferred my brushes been in good working condition and so there would be nothing to contact customer service about. We will see how it goes from here.

Check out what my Flat Buffer Brush did this morning! I am so appalled.

Nice.  I emailed the picture to Coastal Scents.  I will let you know if they have any reply.

I ordered this brush set in early March for about $34, and upon arrival I could see that there was something wrong with the Powder Buffer (number 2 in the photo below), the head was really uneven and rough. I contacted customer service and they sent me a replacement.

By mid-July, the Powder Buffer (the brush they had replaced) (#2) and the Flat Buffer (#4) were falling apart at an alarming rate. I have only observed this issue of shedding with the larger synthetic brushes from the set, the smaller brushes have been fine. But still, I have hardly had this set for five months, and the two brushes I mentioned are coming apart so quickly that I am already looking for replacements.

I contacted Coastal Scents just to let them know about this issue, not expecting a refund or replacement (which was good because none was offered). I do hope the message got through to their quality control or manufacturing people because I would hate for this issue to be ongoing. I am surprised this happened in the first place because I had heard really good things about their brushes, and I sort of hope this was just a fluke.

And please follow Spoiled Boxes because it would make me smile :-)

    1. I wish it had not happened either, but I am at least glad others could benefit from my experience. I remain really surprised that it happened and that Coastal Scents has not done anything to remedy the issue.

  2. Oh no! This is the set that I use and love and that particular brush is one of my favorites! :-( Such a bummer! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this! I hope Coastal Scents gives you some sort of refund. I've had mine for about 7 months and I haven't had any issues yet.

    1. I know! I LOVED that brush before it start to come apart. It seems to be an issue with the larger, synthetic brushes in my set. I kept on using them because I paid good money for them wanted to try to get some use out of them before they "officially" died. I actually thought I was sort of funny for not trashing that one earlier, since it was clear it was on its last legs.

I am glad all is well with yours though!

  3. Terrible! I hope they compensate you somehow and if it's an issue with that brush in general they should probably recall it. Thank you for posting though, it's good to know to avoid this brand!!

    1. It really is a shame because this set is quite popular. It seems like it was a manufacturing and quality control issue. I hope they have resolved it. I also hope they do something about my situation, it will be interesting to see how they respond.

  4. Oh this is so sad! I've had my 22 pieces brush set from coastal scents for over 5 years and for me has been great. I guess some people get better luck than others. Is a pity what happened to you :(
